I think we need a little fluff :)

1. Have you/Will you decorate(d) for the fall?

2. Have you started any Holiday shopping yet?

3. What is one food (or drink) that you look forward to when the weather gets cooler?

Bonus (it was a discussion at work yesterday and wondered others opinions):
4. If you were able to have an inheritance for your children (or maybe you have already experienced this with your own family), and you were able to live comfortably and was not relying on that money to survive, would you rather spend the money while you are alive and watch your children enjoy the money now or would you rather have it given to them when you died?

And, go back to my actual original statement, the only examples you have given were a tour meal (the excursion) and a chain restaurant (KFC or Senor Frogs).

That's why it's working.

It's the same general area, check the map.

So including tips, how much did you save?

Yes, for someone who wants to eat out a lot, and eat as much as they choose at certain types of restaurants, and doesn't mind being limited on excursions to pre-chosen places, it sounds like a meal plan is the way to go. I will probably get my kid a meal plan when if and when he goes off to college next year. Sometimes they make a lot of sense.

But I do not get the mentality that seems to be pushing a meal plan as the only way to go for EVERYBODY, that IF ONLY everyone were as familiar with the meal plan as *I* am, they too would choose the Holy Grail of Vacation Experiences.

I own our lack of originality as well, most of our vacations have been limited to the US recently, but not the same general area.

I, personally, would love to just travel the US.

The way I read it the meals would have added up to 900 bucks, and since the meal plan was "free" they saved 900 bucks.

1.Have you/Will you decorate(d) for the fall? No.

2. Have you started any Holiday shopping yet? Yes.We are pretty low-key, but have a large list, so I like to start looking for bargains early.

3. What is one food (or drink) that you look forward to when the weather gets cooler? Hot chocolate.

I assume you mean if you had enough money in the bank that you were confident there would be some left when you die unless you share it when you're still alive? In which case, would you leave it there or share it?

My kids' adult financial security is pretty important to me. There are a number of things we will do while we are alive to give them a boost.
First, we keep our own lifestyle pretty low-key. I would hate for my children to grow up, realize they cannot afford the lifestyle they are used to, and then, as a result, feel that they have not succeeded, when in fact that are doing well for someone at their age. I saw that happen a lot among my peers and am determined to not allow it to happen to my children.
Second, we will pay for their education. Definitely undergraduate, hopefully graduate as well.
Third, we will do our best to start small retirement funds for them while they are still very young.
Fourth, if we are in a comfortable place when they start their first jobs, we would like to help them with a first car and first home.
Beyond those four things, we will not funnel money their way for expensive clothes, cars, home remodeling, vacations, or just because. We would help if they needed it, but that is about it.
