I am finally getting new pipes and my bathroom remodeled starting today. I only have one bathroom so I will be without a shower for about a week.

Condo. (Garden style apartment/ ground floor)

<>

Um...16 years? It was built in 1988.

<>

LOL Uhhhh, no.

Well my immediate plans are to 1) paint the living room. 2) tile the kitchen/front hallway 3) tile my bathroom and in so doing, rip out the carpet from the vanity/2nd closet area and lay tile there as well. 4) (we're into eventually's now) install wood floors in the dining room, living room and bedroom hallway....and possibly my bedroom. I can't decide if I want wood floors with berber area rugs or just go with berber in the master bedroom. 5) recarpet John's room, when/if he moves out.

I'd LOVE to make my kitchen bigger, but I'd have to buy the next door condo to do that. I have, however, toyed with the idea :) Their master bedroom bath abuts my kitchen and the master bedroom abuts my dining room, so if I bought their place, I could increase the size of both my dining room and kitchen (and I'd have water access from their bath fixtures already available...then maybe I could get a fridge with an ice maker. Obviously, this is VERY pie in the sky.

Well, I'll speak in terms of my NEW house (close in 5 weeks).

Its brick, one-story, 3-bedroom, built in 1984. My favorite part of the house, and what drew me to it, is the vaulted ceiling in the living room. The kitchen isn't big, but is sufficient and very light and airy; it has two HUGE windows (one plate glass) in the eat-in portion of the kitchen that just makes it seem so open.

Its only 1373 sf, which is a little small for the three of us, but that's what I can afford. The kids' rooms are slightly small, but doable. Bathrooms are more than sufficient. The laundry room is in the hallway between Cal's room and the kids' bathroom ... I think I'm gonna like that.

2 car garage. HUGE yard. Already has some established landscaping. (see pics at http://members.cox.net/savcal)

Before I move in I'm going to repaint Cal's bedroom (yellow construction truck theme), my bedroom (animal print theme) and the family room. Don't think I'll do much else for a while.

What type of house do you live in? We live in a small two story 8 room cottage colonial style home set on one corner of an intersection ... three sides of our property bordered by streets, we have only one abutter.

Can I tell you how much I already love your house? You'll have to post pictures one day. I would love to live in an old rambling Victorian but I am not handy. Maybe my next husband can be handy and love older homes too!

I am in the process of moving this week...

I am moving into a pre-war apartment in Uptown Manhattan. It has just been renovated with new tiles and wood floors.

Its tiny...probably like 700 sq feet. Its next to a park and the subway station which is a plus for me. We won't do anything to the apartment since we're renting.

Two story: brick front

How old? 4 years old

Well, since we just bought it...the only think I really hate are the white laminate countertops in the kitchen. What a PITA! I'd love granite or Corian w/some sort of pattern--not solid white. And I want my bookshelves built over the cabinets (on either side of the fireplace) in the family room, which DH says will be done by Christmas. Everything else is purely cosmetic: I'm still making curtains (much to DH's chagrin, he prefers naked windows w/nuttin but blinds--ICK), hanging pictures, etc.

We live in a early 1920's stucco 1 1/2 story house with a 2 car garage separated by a breezeway on a little over 1/2 acre.
