waste paper baskets, inside of shoes, closets. it removes dog smell from my kid's bedspread too, saves me from having to wash it every day.

I am not sure I would want to use a chemical spray on beding where my child would be breathing it in every night. That doesn't sound safe to me.

I think it is pretty common for people who like fussy to see contemporary decor as sterile, whereas those who prefer clean/sleek see traditioonal/romantic as cluttered. It is all a matter of taste.
