1. Where have you been? How many US States? Outside of the USA?--Hmmmmm (I'm doing this by memory and more or less chronologically). Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, Michigan, Iowa, Missouri, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Germany, France, Luxembourg, Belgium, Austria, England, Ohio, Montana, Arizona, California, Nevada, New Mexico, Texas, Maryland, Czechoslovakia (that was by accident tho and neither sanctioned nor legal--and I only went about 10 feet in), Holland (but only for a layover in Amsterdam), Virginia, West Virginia, New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Maine, Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, the Bahamas, St. Thomas, Dominica, Barbados, St. Kitts (B & St.K might be switched), Puerto Rico Oops, forgot Delaware and Rhode Island.

2. If, on your next two week vacation, you had to go back to someplace you have already been, where would it be?--I'd love to do a week in Dominica and Barbados (one each).

3. Is there any place you would not return to, and why?--Las Vegas. BTDT, just NOT my thing at all. Although I really liked Lake Mead, it's not worth the effort of going back to Las Vegas.

4. Where in the USA would you like to go next?--I'd love to go back to Boston. But if it has to be somewhere I've never been....hmmmm--I'd love to spend a week in the fall in the Great Smoky Mountains. I could totally get my Mom to meet me there.

5. Where outside the USA would you like to go next?--I'd like to go to the Czech Republic (legally) and spend at least a week in Prague.

For the sake of explanation: During the Cold War, although Czechoslovakia was a Warsaw Pact nation and the borders closed, since most of the border line along Czechoslovakia and West Germany was mountainous, they never bothered to put up a wall along the whole thing. The Czechs had the old style cement border markers every 50 meters or so (probably less; I suck at metrics), and they patrolled their side heavily.

West Germany had a 1-km zone into which American troops could not enter without prior authorization and clearance. Most of the time when we deployed for training it was well outside that 1-km zone, but once we had this big exercise where our unit had to deploy inside it. Our team set up and we were a lot closer to the border than we thought.

I had to go to the bathroom, so I took off downhill with my shovel, did my thing and was starting back when I met up with the Czech border patrol. They were between me and the border. Awkward! Fortunately, they thought it was HIL. AR.IOUS. (at least in part, I think, because I'm a woman in uniform, but also they were QUITE well aware of WHY I was there.)

They had enough English that I didn't have to use any Czech (which could have been a REAL problem and my clearance was already flashing before my eyes) and for the sacrifice of a couple bags of M&Ms they let me back into Germany. (Talk about your Rest Stop Giant, eh, Lauren? LOL)

1. Where have you been? How many US States? Outside of the USA?
Inside US: New York, Delaware, Arkansas, Texas, Oklahoma, Florida, Missouri, Mississippi, and California. Been to Puerto Rico.
Outside the US: Costa Rica, Canada, England, Scotland, France

2. If, on your next two week vacation, you had to go back to someplace you have already been, where would it be?
London, hands down.

3. Is there any place you would not return to, and why?
There was a "resort" in Arkansas that was so bad my family still laughs about the fact that they called it a resort. All they had was a bait shop, a couple of leaky wooden boats to use for fishing, and four creepy little cabins with a cement floor, a single light bulb hanging from the ceiling, and paper-thin mattresses on the bunk beds. Crockett Family Resort. They got the crock part right, LOL.

4. Where in the USA would you like to go next?
Hawaii or Alaska

5. Where outside the USA would you like to go next?
Italy

1. Where have you been? How many US States? Outside of the USA?

Lived in 6 states. Have been to enough states that I guess it could be considered most (although some are just drive threws). Where I am lacking is the east coast (have only been to Florida and New York) and the west coast (have only been to California).

Have lived in two countries beside the U.S. (Japan and Turkey). Grew up in a border town so spent a lot time in Canada.

Edited to add: Also have been in Germany and Guam (a U.S. territory so technically U.S.) but only on layovers.

2. If, on your next two week vacation, you had to go back to someplace you have already been, where would it be?

That is a hard one. I cannot think of anywhere I would want to spend a two week vacation.

3. Is there any place you would not rturn to, and why?

Edited because I thought more about it. I have no interest in returning to Hawaii. I know that goes against the "norm". I don't have a real reason except for maybe not enough bang for the buck.

4. Where in the USA would you like to go next?

We are planning a trip next year to the Grand Canyon.

5. Where outside the USA would you like to go next?

Don't know. I don't travel well so it would probably be somewhere in this part of the world.

To answer my own questions, I have been to 47 states. I added two,, Minnesota and North Dakota, this summer. I have never been to Alaska or Hawaii except to change planes. Outside the US, I have been to Canada (Ontartio, Quebec,New Brunswick), some Meixican border cities like Nuevo Laredo, Juarez, and Tijuana, and most of western and central Europe as well as Italy and Portugal.

It would be hard for me to choose just one place to return to. It has been a long time since I have been to Rome, so maybe there. Domestically, the Hudson Valley. We passed through there driving from Manhattan to Maine a few years back and I was intrigued enough to want to do a trip just concentrating on that area.

Domestically, I think Alaska or the Pacific Northwest. I have been in Seattle but not explored the area at all.

My husband and I have been batting around the idea of going to Spain and possibly Morocco this spring. Specifcally Seville and Cordoba in Spain. If we go domestically someplace it will probably be southern Florida, from St Augustine to the Everglades and possibly the keys.

Really one place I am done with is Southern California. I have a sister that still lives there, and I have to go there on business from time to time but cannot imagine going there as a destination ever again.

1. Where have you been? How many US States? Outside of the USA?

Of US states I have been to NY, CA, OH, VT and DC, although that is not a state.

Since I am from outside the US, the list is longer there, USSR (Moscow and Petersburg/Leningrad) Sweden, Norway, Germany, Holland, France, Italy, Greece, Morocco, Serbia. But I have never really been anywhere exotic, like Indonesia or Afghanistan.

2. If, on your next two week vacation, you had to go back to someplace you have already been, where would it be?

Italy. I am always happy to spend time there.

3. Is there any place you would not rturn to, and why?

Ohio. That was bleak.

4. Where in the USA would you like to go next?

I really want to visit the South one day.

5. Where outside the USA would you like to go next?

Syria, I am working on convincing dh.
