In honor of the other thread, and the weeke
nd:

1. Where have you been? How many US States? Outside of the USA?

2. If, on your next two week vacation, you had to go back to someplace you have already been, where would it be?

3. Is there any place you would not rturn to, and why?

4. Where in the USA would you like to go next?

5. Where outside the USA would you like to go next?

Aha. We saw none of those when we were there.

I almost forgot it, too! That's why it's last.

We loved our day trip to Chichen Itza. Driving through the "real" Yucatan peninsula on the way was very eye-opening.

I love the Black Hills region of SD mminus all the stupid casinos. But Mt Rushmore itself was a big dissapointment. You just stand there and look up at the carvings which look just like they do on the postcards except the photos on the postcrds were either taken from planes or helicopters or a telephoto lens. So you actually see more detail and they look bigger on the postcards than they do in real life. My son went to work on an Indian Reservation for a couple of weeks a couple of years back and the kids on the way hoe had their choice of gooing to Mt Rushmore or going rafting. My kid was really surpised when I addvised the rafting!

One of the most wonderful job perks I have ever heard of was at a company where a friend used to work.

Every year the company took all of the employees on a paid vacation. The company hired temp workers for coverage while they were gone so everyone had the option to go. Family members did have to pay if they wanted to go but were able to do so by payroll deduction throughout the year.

One year they took a trip to Mexico, another year a cruise. The last trip was to Italy. My friends absolutely loved the Vatican.

Sort of like DC, except that DC citizens have to pay federal income taxes.

Wow, that makes the Rest Stop Giant story sound downright boring.

Pyuh, right, what am I saying? The Rest Stop Giant experience WAS downright boring. The conversations that it has inspired have been much more interesting. :-)

1. Where have you been? How many US States? Outside of the USA?

I've never been outside of the US. I almost went to Canada once but had left my birth certificate at home.

In the US I've been to (alphabetically): Arizona, Delaware, DC, Maryland, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, Utah, Virginia, West Virginia. It really seems like there should be more but I've been thru the alphabet twice now and I seem to have hit them all.

2. If, on your next two week vacation, you had to go back to someplace you have already been, where would it be?

Oh, definitely San Antonio. I'd actually consider moving there.

3. Is there any place you would not return to, and why?

My feelings wouldn't be hurt if I could avoid the Carolinas forever.

4. Where in the USA would you like to go next?

Wherever the next interesting thing ends up being.

5. Where outside the USA would you like to go next?

Wherever it is that I just signed on to go to on my vacation with Rollmops and PBK. I wasn't paying attention to the destination. :-)
