Hurt Locker was a better picture, better written, with actual actors not cgi enhanced actors.
but I LOATHEEEEE all things James Cameron - I hated Titanic too which I know is heresy on ivillage I'm supposed to be all 'squeeeeeee he loved her SOOOO much"
but James cmareon is a misogynistic egomaniac and I'm thrilled not only that he lost but that he lost to his Ex wife who's a better filmmaker.
I did not feel as strongly about it as you do, but I also didn't even know that he made Titanic. However, now that I do know that, I agree with you 100%. What a revolting piece of dog poopies that movie was. I watched it on TV one night and felt really annoyed by the end. I thought there would be some kind of point to make the tearjerker, annoying love story worth it, but nu-huh.
All the reviews I saw of Avatar said basically that it was visually stunning, but that the story and characters were thin. So, the animators should maybe have gotten an Oscar (did they?), but not the Cameron guy.

America had often been discovered before Columbus, but it had always been hushed up.
I believe that everyone must rejoice in his destiny, in the fact that he has lived at all and achieved a destiny. Destiny is the only sure asset.

I must have missed the bit where the events of the movie Titanic actually happened. However, no, I didn't see Roots (although I've read bits and pieces of the novel), I didn't *see* Anne Frank, although, again, i've read the book (and numerous others, including the one written by Miep Gies). I've watched various Holocaust programs over the years, although I can't swear I've seen the specific one you referenced since there's a good bit of time during which I wasn't living in the US during those years.
didn't see Valkyrie since Tom Cruise was in it and I'd rather remove my nipples with a fork than watch Tom Cruise in anything.
Didn't see Perfect Storm, either.
I'm not a fan of fictionalized history. Sue me.

I've never EVER seen Titanic. I never intend to. What for? We know how it ends. Ship sinks. Most people die. Some don't. The end.
the one that blew my mind was "Titanic: the Musical" (on Broadway). *needlescratch*

so you've never watched Roots, even though you probably are familiar with black history?

Why get angry and defensive with someone just because her taste differs from yours?
