My daddy turns 60 on Saturday and I'm hosting a party for him. My mother suggested doing it at a resteraunt or his club, but then the kids would be miserable........ and if I didn't take them that meant having a small bday party for him anyways so that they could be included- especially my 5 year old, he is really excited about Grampa's party!! But, I said, no let's do it at home so when the kiddies get bored they can go up and play! That will be my weekend in a nutshell, lol. Staging, party, cleanup. And I'm going to use this for a test...... there will be about 75 people in my home Saturday evening. I am not asking anyone to take their shoes off. We'll see how many do, lol! I know my family will, but as for my dad's friends I don't know.

I'm going to Devin's grandmother 90th birthday. I am really excited. She is a wonderful woman and sharp as a tack. She doesn't use a cane and finally stopped cooking last week. I am giving her stationary and stamps. Do you think that is a good idea or should I give her something else? I am also framing some pictures of the boys for her and a picture of Devin with the kids.

Also, it will be the first time we have been in FIL's new house. Devin and I made so much fun of it when he was building it that I am going to miss Devin horribly. We called it the castle and the reason FIL will never be able to retire. It has a turrent and a heated floor in the hallway and a huge library...you get the idea. I guess I will have to snark with Devin's brother.

I'm kidless ... so you can guess what I'm doing.

I take my kids to my parents Friday evening and they will leave early Sat morning for Albuquerque to meet the ex. So, as of 6am Sat I'm footloose and fancy free.

Allen and I actually have no plans for the weekend or week while the kids are gone. Just gonna be domestic and play house I guess ...

Then NEXT Friday he and I will drive to Amarillo, stay overnight and then on to Albuquerque Sat morning. We don't have to get the kids from the ex until Sunday morning, so we'll have the whole day to play.

Good for you! Sounds like a great trip for you guys. I agree about leaving the house empty, even with us living outside the city now, I still worry and we *always* try to get a housesitter if we can!!

For us, this will just be a boring old weekend. I have to work fri and sat, as always. Dd has been grounded forEVER, I am hoping her grades will finally be up enough that we can watch a movie or something (feels like *I* am grounded, sigh). Dh is working Saturday. Sunday my dad and brother will be over for dinner and thats my *long run* day in training for the half marathon I am doing in 7 short weeks (yikes). So thats it for us.

I've been bawling on and off all week! I've been putting together a giant collage (6x8 feet and GROWING) of pictures from his 60 years.... and it is so bittersweet! I love looking at all the old pics, and I love the ones of him holding my boys..... but I am so sad that my dad is "getting old". I worry about him now, and I don't know why! HIs parents lived into their 80's! I just want to keep my daddy forever and 60 just seems so *old* to me, sniff sniff. Have fun with your dad's party!

We are taking the kids, my MIL, BIL, nephew, brother and 4 kids to see a Monster Truck show Saturday night. MIL mentioned keeping the kids afterward, so dh and I *might* just hop over the border to Windsor and pop into a few of the live music bars :)

DD & I are going on a Leader Daughter weekend at the Girls Scout Camp. It is supposed to be a time when the girls can spend time with their leader moms without sharing them with the rest of the troop.

I think it will be fun!!

OK, Melissa, did I miss something? Where is your DH?
