Does your dh make a point of calling his mom on her birthday?

My mil wouldn't be too fond of me, if I expected her to either get my kids gifts, or give me an explaination as to why she didn't.

No one said they were not appreciative of what they might get for their bday but I do believe a parent and grandparent should acknowledge their child's and grandchild's bday and if all they can afford is a call to say happy birthday, it is something.

My dh always calls his mom on mothers day birthdays holidays ect...she never gives the same back in return. It is what it is...no skin off our nose...

I guess, if that's the way it is, then it's better to just come to terms with it, even if you can't understand it.

Not sure if this is towards my posts but where did I ever say this?

I would think that it would be a pretty miserable life to expect a call (even if the expected caller has never been consistent before), then be disappointed or angry everytime they don't call.

My mil is NOT consistant at all, except with me as she has only recently told me happy birthday because we are friends on facebook. Sometimes gifts are early, sometimes late, sometimes they never come. Sometimes she sends a card, sometimes not. Sometimes she calls, sometimes not.

I don't care about myself and my dh really doesn't care about himself (he just thinks for something like a bday you call the person, not text them). My mil thinks everyone should bend over backwards for her bday though.

Honestly, this is exactly the comment I would have expected from you.

What comment would that be? That I think adults should think of their children and grandchildren for their birthday? :smileymad:
