Are you a keep everything clean as you go type so your house is always in presentable shape?

or a

Clean or trash type? Do you clean it, let it go until it is trashed. Then clean again.

I wish I were the former type but I am the later type. My house is generally either very clean or in some type of major disarray. The down side is if someone comes to the door unexpectedly they have a fairly good chance of it being fairly trashed and if we get one of those "Grandpa just called he'll be here in an hour" phone call we all run around like a chicken with his head cut off cleaning.

Today my house (except for my bedroom) is clean so it would be a good day for drop in guests.

If you could see my house right now, someone might call DHS on me! After 3 weeks of dealing with two kids, 5 kittens, 2 cats and a dog, one father, one husband, two grandparents, and two cousins all by myself, my house is TRASHED! I have NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER let my house get this bad! Now, we are constantly on the go, so I am more the "Clean or trash type? Do you clean it, let it go until it is trashed. Then clean again." than I am the other. But THIS bad? UGH! I need a maid this week just to get me out from below the trash! HOW did I get so off-track?

To his credit, my husband knows I am PISSED! He got up this morning, made sure none of the kids woke me up, and did the dishes and picked up the kitchen. I would say it is the first time in over a month he has done ANYTHING here. But I might let him live now, as he also just took the kids to the drop-in play place, so I don't have to before my class this afternoon.

Melissa - who is going to get help from her husband in order to have a clean house before she leaves for Albuquerque later this month, or she is leaving her DH (not necessarily dear hubby) home alone to take care of it while she and the kids are gone!

Well I'm here when I should be starting on the bathrooms, so I guess that says it all!

Seriously though, my house is always clean (bathrooms, floors washed, vacuumed, kitchen), but it is also, unfortunately mostly messy (school papers, mail, little piles of unironed clothes, unputaway clothes, clutter, etc.). I can't get a handle on everything while I'm also working, but school is out on Wednesday, so I have all summer to get rid of the clutter (finally).

I do all the inside housework, dh does all the outside work and "big" jobs - painting, repairs, etc.

I'm a "keep everything clean as you go" type. It has a lot to do with the fact that I have people in and out every day.

My house is pretty much always presentable because I keep up on it. I straighten up my bedroom every morning and make the bed and I'm a real stickler for "a place for everything and everything in it's place". The only thing I'm terrible about is taking care of the laundry. It's usually in folded piles on the dresser until I get around to putting it away. My Saturday morning cleaning consists of mopping the floors, washing down the cupboards, vacuuming the stairs and upstairs, I wash the windows if they need it, and I give the bathrooms a good cleaning...the stuff I don't have time for during the week with all the kids here. It takes me about an hour and a half to get done what I need to get done and then I'm free for the rest of the weekend.

Somewhere in between with a leaning towards the former.................

I clean my house every day. I always say that I like to keep my house within 10 minutes of *company clean*. Which means if someone calls and says "I'll be over in 10 minutes" I can have the house at least reasonably presentable!!

I keep the kitchen clean for the most part (I hate dishes in the sink), vacuum 3x a week (we have 5 pets-need I say more? lol), do the floors one or two times a week, and generally keep the house picked up. Thats not to say it doesnt ever get a bit *trashed*, but I really hate a dirty house so its seldom that I allow it to get to that point.

I have a housekeeper who does all the heavy cleaning. So the house is always clean. But I have piles of papers at the end of the counter, and clean laundry waiting to be folded, ironed and put away, and so on and so forth. And I really have time to take care of that stuff. But I am here on the computer.

When I know I am having visitors I run around and put everything away. It really doesn't take that long to do if the house is clean, but just messy.

I'm definately a "clean and keep everything clean as I go type so my house is always presentable no matter day or hour" housecleaner

I'm very particular about my house. We both are, we are a match made in heaven.

Clean or trash here. I just see no reason to clean a clean house, lol. Clutter doesn't bother me. Dirt does. So I, periodically, have to move the clutter to clean the dirt. Basically, my house is clean but cluttered.

"keep everything clean as you go type so your house is always in presentable shape"

type of housekeepers.

I can't stand it when a room gets out of shape.

I grew up in a household where the house was constantly either COMPLETELY TRASHED (OMG, gram is coming in the morning, GET CLEANING!!!!!), or all cleaned (soon to be trashed again). No on in my household as a child really knew how to keep stuff clean.

I wish I were the former too - that my house was always such that anyone could stop by and I wouldn't wish it was more cleaned up. I guess most of the house is presentable most of the time but the kitchen is my downfall. There are so many other things I'd rather be doing than dishes and sweeping the floor and wiping counter tops. I do it as a discipline but if an area of the house is going to get away from me, the kitchen is it.

The former. Of course, I'm an anal retentive person of German ethnicity! DH on the other hand doesn't even clean once it's trashed LOL!
