There is some rumors going around my dh's job that they may decide to nix paying for the entire family wrt health insurance.

Well, I wouldn't make any decisions until I was forced to. However, I would, as you are doing, research the possibilities.


You say that if you returned to the workforce your premium would be covered. Are

Choose your friends by their character and your socks by their color.  Choosing your socks by their character makes no sense and choosing your friends by their color is unthinkable.

Although I don't have a job "lined up" I have an open ended request from a previous company that will fit me in whenever I need to come back.

I'd start looking for a job. Until you get actual offers, you don't know what you'd have to pay out of pocket for your health insurance - and you don't know what you'd be earning either. If you will be working just to cover health insurance, there is definitley room for improvement in that scenario. I assume you don't have that much room for income growth in what you are doing now - so you'd have to look outside the home. Even if your finances come out the same woh or wah initially, if you find a job with some kind of advancement opportunity, that could change before long.
