Food--I spend way too much on groceries. Good coffee from a local place. Taking my girls to the ballet and the theater. I used to splurge on books, but have weaned myself off to library books.

DH hurt himself when we were in DC last summer and that got us to stay in for dinner one night, we ordered a pizza, it was the best darn pizza i've had in a long time.

my splurge is probably eating out when we go on vacations. i never utilize a kitchenette, and we always look for places that we wouldn't find at home. even when we go home now, we try meeting up with friends at some new place (cincinnati has really exploded with new restaurants). we met friends over thanksigiving at this fancy, mexican place. a close second was this japenese place but we couldn't all agree on that, Lol.

Sounds like an awesome kid!

I saw James McDivitt speak once at a commencement ceremony. Never thought I'd say that to impress someone. :)

my very good friend and her family came to visit for my DS' first communion last spring. whenever they travel she looks for a suite with a hot tub, the whole nine yards. i suggested this locally owned inn that had a very good reputation and she took me up on it. what i later found out however is that when they got in town the hot tub didn't work, the staff provided them with another room taht had a hot tub that still didn't work. i felt so bad for them but she took it in stride and i think the owners did give them a nice break on their stay.

We are the opposite when it comes to eating out when traveling. We usually eat in our room. We find it more relaxing than dealing with a restaurant.

We eat out when we travel, much to my mother-in-law's dismay.

I buy coffee from a stand. I can not make a pot of coffee that is worth drinking, no matter what I do, it is quite ridiculous actually. So, I let someone else do it for me, probably twice a week.
