Yeah, actually now that i think about it, the lower school in my kids' private school actually opened up in a building on the campus of a local Catholic church.

Off the top of my head, and within a two mile radius, I can think of six churches that hold services inside school building on Sunday mornings. If I give myself a little more time, I can come up with more, lol.

The Catholic school my kids go to is a parish school. Anyone can attend - there are most definitely many non-catholic families whose kids attend. Parishioners get first priority for admission, followed by Catholic out of parish families then non Catholics. The out of parish families and non-Catholics pay more in tuition though. We've actually had an influx of non-Catholics in recent years from families leaving other more expensive private schools. They are only admitted if there are vacant spots in the grades to which they are applying.

Yes, the man impresses those who study how televangelists "brand" and sell their message. That's what we've all been saying.

I don't have too many objections to the ifpdea of teaching people to gphelp each other and give each other a hand up when they need it. Surely that's a message given by all too few.

Where I stumble here isn't even so much in Osteen's lack of any educational background in preaching, but also his utter lack of interest in gaining one. Also, the author of this article tries to make a comparison between Osteen and Jesus which is pretty uch epic fail. While Jesus certain taught to the rank and file of the day with parables and stories to illustrate His point, the fact is, Jesus knew Judaic law inside and out, up one side and down the other. When he was as young as twelve, the Gospels teach us, He was discussing Scriptures and the law with rabbis at the temple. And even His parables illustrated key elements of Torah that His listeners were presumed to be familiar with--from studying them constantly. Jesus wasn't avoiding the Scriptures with His stories--He was giving them life and context.

Thus, for the author of your article to attempt that parallel is simply unconscionable--attempting to prejudice the reader into seeing Jesus where a salesman is standing.

Besides, Jesus was not all about making his listeners feel comfortable and empowered. The point of most of his stories was quite the opposite. he was all about exposing sin, smugness, and self-justifying behavior. They didn't crucify him because he made people feel better about themselves.
