I got our kids handheld systems -- Gameboys -- for long car and airplane trips, like when we fly to Europe or drive cross country. We do not have, and never will have, a DVD player in the car, though. Since the kids only get their gameboys for long car, plane, or train rides, they really look forward to them. Saves my sanity, too. "I spy with my little eye," "Ghost" and the License plate game can only be played so many thousand times before *I* lose my mind. We also do books on tape while travelling, which is fun.

You'd notice if he threw it in fence with the dog every time, even after you ask him politely not to because the dog chews up newspapers!

I am a sucker for those American Girl dolls and I never even had little girls! I bought a doll for my niece when she was four, and then outfitted her for Christmas and birthdays until she was eleven. And one of my best friends has five daughters, and the tradition has become that when one of the girls turns seven, I buy her an American Girl doll and then get her an outfit or piece of furniture for Christmas every year until she is eleven.

I have also been known to buy one of those dolls to donate to the school silent auction. It is bizarre, but when people get to bidding on them, they will spend up to 2x the cost of the doll so as not to disappoint their darling daughters!

Yes and a guy I work with can make a phone call and get them for me very easily but, these are sold at the resale value which is 150 a ticket.

no no no - don't do that, don't buy re-sale value -- go directly to the arena and ask for any holds they are releasing -- they would be sold at the regular ticket price --

I "tip" the local service providers -- garbage, mail, police, fire, etc, by contributing to the annual Christmas dinners that the city/county provides for them and their families when they have to work over the holidays. We also take homemade food down to the hospital for doctors and nurses who have to work over the holidays.
