Has anyone suggested that you put yourself at risk for malnutrition by only eating ramen noodles? I must have missed it.

I'm pretty sure gas money paid in to a carpool would be less. That would be the advantage.

No, just saying that I would not cut down my food to save money. All my friends at work always bring up that they used to eat it when they were in college as they had no money. I wouldn't eat them as they are too many points anyway-lololol!!!

It all depends on how much money the person you are carpooling with asks for gas. It would save the wear and tear on your car though so that would probably help.

Why don't you just quit pretending that saving money is in any way a priority of yours? You clearly have no desire or intention to change anything you are doing to save money; you remind me of a real life friend of mine who complains all the time that she can never lose weight, and it's clear she'd do anything in the world to be thinner except consume fewer calories or get more exercise.

It IS a priority to us. That is why we have been doing it. While we don't save in our savings account from July-Jan, we save in our 401K's and IRA's and have saved in the past for college for the kids. The problem is you think it is not "saving" because we don't have 6 months worth of savings in our savings account (I don't count the 401 and IRA). I personally don't think we do too bad because we ARE able to save something during the year. There are millions out there who don't save in a savings account or retirement at all. We also have life insurance in case something happens to us and alot of equity in our home.

"Yes, cable and food are 2 bills that I know I will always have. I would NEVER cut out Christmas."

I know, I understand you do. That's why I put it on your first level of needs. However for my budgety I'd put food above cable. I really like watching tv & movies, but if push came to shove, I'd feed my kids & turn off the cable.

Hey, I have eaten them too but since starting to do ww in 2001, they are WAY too many points and too much salt now for my high blood pressure.

I ate enough ramen in college never to want to look at the stuff again. DH eats it for lunch several times a week. Go figure.
