What you can afford. How much money you make, how much things cost where you live. Our salary would be excellent where my mom lives but here it is really not much.

Because you never responded to my post when asked about me about it and indicating how I could have saved money by not going. You could have just deleted your response, no?

Can I ask what state you live in? It is MUCH cheaper in many states that you can save alot more WHILE spending money in other places, like cable. My mom would never move back to NY as the amount she sold her home would only give her a downpayment for a house or condo here. Her taxes are only $1,000/year

I just explained to Ducky that if your bills for the same things are cheaper and you are making the same amount of someone in a higher col area, then of course (if you want to) you can save more.

I explained how anyone who has moved out of state has a hard time moving back if they want to as if my mom sold her home, it would only be a downpayment on a house. She would have to have a mortgage and very high taxes. If she decided to get a job here that made the same money, she wouldn't be able to save as much, even if she cut out many things that were not a "necessity".
