I explained that giving up cable would give us $8 more a month. That would not make that much of a difference in the long run in our savings.

Fine, not worth it to you to save $8 a month.

No, my guess is that if you moved to a lower COL area, you wouldn't save more. You would spend more. You would think, because your COL was lower, that you could take more vacations, buy more furniture, get a better car, etc. Because time and time again, you have shown that you are not really all that interested in saving money. You are quite comfortable with the spending/saving ration you have now, plus the presumably comforting but quite untrue litany that you are saving as much as you can.

If you want to have a discussion about the merrits of choosing to live in a lower col area, great.

So if I say something that you agree on, since it has not been part of the thread, I can't talk about it?

Not many people would give up tv to save $8/month.

Sorry to get you so upset. I would NEVER pick cable over food, oil, electric or water. That is really a no brainer. Yes, other people DO have a problem because I have said I can not save money. Well I have explained over and over that the $8 saved per month would not make much of a difference to get rid of it.

It still comes down to the $255/week on daycare and aftercare (or more sometimes) is the REAL reason we can not save.

And that is all that they were trying to say.
