The house across the street is hosting what looks (and sounds) like a rocking party at their pool. It's only 8:30 here, but I'm guessing the parents aren't home, b/c I CERTAINLY wouldn't let DS or his friends park their car next to the house and use the car's booming system for party tunes--and the party has been going on most of the day, getting bigger as the night goes on. I can't decide if I should go over there and ask them to turn it down, or just call the cops and have them do it for me. And before you all jump all over me, I'm new to this neighborhood, I know NOTHING about these people, but I can't imagine that my next door neighbor (who has three kids under 5 w/bedtimes similiar to my DS's) is very happy about this either. And at our other house, we were egged for asking the neighborhood teens to quit loitering in front of our house, so I'm a little gun-shy about approaching kids I don't know.

DS is in bed, I'm guessing DH fell asleep w/him (he often does). I can't decide what to do...thoughts?

Personally? I'd call the police and let them handle it. . . that way you don't get egged, and the noise stops.

Good luck.

Thanks guys--from what I could hear over DS's baby monitor (I could hear conversations on it), there were other complaints (phone, maybe?) and the party broke up around nine. Not w/o a lot of tires screeching and the like, but it's quiet (and the pool lights are all out) now.

Going to be a LOOOONG summer if this is a regular occurance...I think I'm going to have to introduce myself to those parents very soon...

But THANK YOU! And the police were going to be called very soon...

If its bothering you after 10pm, i would call the cops, so it doesnt go on all night, but i bet you anything, your neighbor with the three little kids will beat you to it.

This is exactly why we never leave our kids home alone, or should i say left them. the youngest is so used to tagging along and socializing, i think his feelings would be hurt if we left him home alone anyway....LOL.

Its too late now, but here's my two cents.

If its not infringing on your rights, health or safety, (in other words, if its not really disturbing YOUR evening) leave it alone. Its obviously not distrubing your dh or ds. If its disturbing your neighbors, let them handle their own complaints.

Choose your friends by their character and your socks by their color.  Choosing your socks by their character makes no sense and choosing your friends by their color is unthinkable.
