What's the worst present you've received on the holidays?

I think mine, and I hope it's never topped, would be the Shaggy and Scooby Chia Pets that my dh let my boys pick out for me one year.

yes, the monogram looks like xYz, the Y representing the last name. but we couldn't get the order to make the Y our last name initial!

Some monograms have the Last Name initial as the Middle letter.

My Aunt Dorothy got me the ugliest leopard print winter coat when I was 8. I still shudder when I picture it in my mind. My family was rather poor then, so I had to wear it all winter. My mother, a kind soul, kept reminding me that it was a gift and it was warm and to be thankful. Thank God for a growth spurt so I didn't have to wear it the next year.

Those are cool, that would have been a fun project to do with my boys.

Can't think of any, I really think it's the thought and not the gift that counts.

My MIL once gave me a boxed set of a teapot and two teacups. On the side of the box it said that this was a promotional gift and could not be sold. She had gotten it as a freebie at Laura Ashley after spending 500 bucks or whatever there. This was beat, however, by several gifts she gave that still had the anti-theft devices in them, and not by accident. FTR, my MIL is quite wealthy.

I agree that it is the thought that counts, but in the above cases the thought really wasn't very nice.
