What's the worst present you've received on the holidays?

I think mine, and I hope it's never topped, would be the Shaggy and Scooby Chia Pets that my dh let my boys pick out for me one year.

Good point. 2-3 times, dd gave me homemade presents and once she bought me a pair of socks. A pair of socks may not sound like much, but she had picked them very carefully to be soft, warm and comfortable and I wore them to shreds. They finally died a few months ago and I am still mourning them.

Rollmops, we have always gotten the kids gifts. The rule about "no gifts expected" applies only to adults. Our college age son will get gifts this year because he is not self-supporting yet.

Sorry, hit send too soon. What I meant to say is, that while we don't "exchange gifts" with the children, that three presents for each child have always appeared "mysteriously" under the tree on Christmas morning, and their stockings are always filled.

Oh, I misread. I thought you did not exchange gifts with the kids either. We never did the santa thing - hadn't thought of that.

Because we have always lived near family, we have never gone all out on presents.

my kids are generous in spirit and there are gifts FROM them under the tree for DH and I, but the money for those things come from us.
