Why do you associate putting people first with spending money on them?

No, I did say in another thread that people come first no matter if it means you are spending money on them or not.
I had given the example of my dad a couple of days ago. My dad's dr. told my mother that she needed to get my sister and I to see him right away when he was in the hospital as he knew it wouldn't be too long before he passed. My mom had to get 7 plane tickets in a day's notice and it cost her an arm and a leg and a finger and toe (lol!). Money did NOT matter at that point and while we offered to pay her back she insisted not to and my dad was fine with it when he wanted to know who payed for us to come. He would have never let us pay that much. There are times when money just does not matter and you will do anything for that person no matter what.

How can you say you agree with that, after you have gone on and on about how selfish it is not to spend the "appropriate" (according to you) amounts of cash on people?

So don't argue it. I don't let my kids wear clothes I don't approve of. It may not be might right to tell someone what to buy, but it is well within my rights not to allow my children to wear things I don't approve of.

I said I will not go into the stockings again. I explained my reasoning and I never gave an amount of how much I "think" someone should spend.

The only things I don't approve of are very short shirts for my dd and I usually buy her a size larger. I have no problem with bikinis or shirts with sayings.

Yeah, but do you ask for charitable contributions on birthday party invitations?

I could have guessed that.
