Whether you can pay your bills or not, or need money to do so is irrelevant.

I love the *judgement* about pile ons, all the while there are a select few that have been happy to *pile on* me for saving money instead of spending it

The problem is that you have a VERY different view of Christmas not just only to me to most of the world. I would say and think you would agree that Christmas is geared mostly to children, seeing Santa and telling him what gifts they would like and getting their pictures taken with him, the kids shows that most adults STILL love as it reminds them of their childhood, the leaving the cookies and milk out for Santa, the Christmas tree and memories of ornaments and decorations from years past.
While I understand you not wanting to spoil your children with tons of things they really do not need, I don't see if you KNEW you could not afford any other gifts than the stocking stuffers that you would NOT spend more than $10 (or less) on each child. Maybe they were too young to know then. If you were able to pay your bills then you didn't have to put it away for future bills as they would be no problem to pay, no?

I think I have explained before they we have a clothes budget and buy our children clothes whenever they need them (the bulk every season). Why do you have a problem with people giving clothes as gifts? I am giving my nephew clothes for Christmas. My sister can easily afford to buy them herself but that is what she asked me to get as he doesn't need any toys.
My mom enjoys to do things for the kids and if she wants to be a grandma, then why can't she be? She is able to afford more things now then when she had her own children and she would rather see them enjoy them now instead of when she is gone.

But creating memories of a wonderful Christmas for children does not have to include a lot of expensive gifts.

I do understand that but if she knew she could not afford Christmas and knew her kids were not going to get anything and was given $100, I would have spent it ALL on my kids. With 4 kids, that would only be $25/kid and it would have gotten a few gifts for each, which she thinks is appropriate anyway.

I find it amazing that "I" am the odd one out here. I feel like I live on another planet. Do anyone leave their homes to see what people ACTUALLY do for Christmas?

But you keep making judgements about others not being responsible b/c you pay your own bills.
