Well, hazel did say that she buys them winter clothes, so I was thinking that it was a fairly safe assumption that one could only wear them in the winter and not all year, due to the climate of her area.

I must be confused. I thought I did answer your question. Are you seriously suggesting I fire off a letter to Bill Gates? That would be an even bigger waste of my time than hanging out here!

"Why does God want you to have more than you need while others have less than they need?"

This was your question. You asked it like I am the only person who might have more than others. There are many, many, many other people out in this world who have more than me. It is called life. God helps everyone but some people have more money than others for many reasons.

No, what people are commenting on is that when most of us go shopping, with say, a hundred dollars in our pockets, and our gift cards and coupons and list of stuff to buy, if we manage to get it all for eighty instead of a hundred bucks, we don't just go out and spend the twenty because we can. We go home having saved twenty bucks.

You on the other hand, seem to think that the game is to get as much stuff as you possibly can for a hundred dollars, whether you originally wanted that stuff or not. You didn't "save" twenty dollars at all. You just got more stuff for your hundred than you originally counted on.

DH got one as a Christmas present from one of his students last year. He doesn't like Starbucks, so he gave it to me. I keep meaning to walk across the street to the Starbucks and use it, but I don't like their stuff enough to make the effort.

No, I am not acting like you are the only one who might have more than others. I am asking why you think God wants you and your family to have much more than you need while others have less than they need. You are the one going on and on about Ducky because she turns down stuff she doesn't need in order to give to people who have even less.

But if you are already able to save money and pay your bills, why can you NOT spend the entire amount? Isn't there a time when you do something for yourself WITHOUT thinking how much you can save? I have to have a happy medium in my life as I am only going to live once. I have to be able to pay my bills, have money in savings, have money in retirement and college, have life insurance. After that, I don't see a problem why I can not use all my "free money" to get whatever I want.
