I agree with you on that point of knowing how much things cost. It's the idea of constantly asking how much everything costs

Oh I see what you're saying -- I was thinking just in a store setting etc...Liza fortunatlye has never asked anyone else what something they had cost .... LOL. We do this in the grocery store too -- I show her how I comparison shop and I've been teaching her how to read lables...makes a big difference.

Because for Ducky, giving to others was more important than keeping a big house when a smaller one met their needs. To be honest, the world would be a better place if more people were as generous as Ducky appears to be. I think it is admirable to be so committed to helping others.

I have no problem with someone who is very generous and wants to help others but you need to help yourself first. This is the quote from Ducky and if she was still giving 10% of their salary to donations, that would mean out of the $2,200 (less than $2,300) her dh brought home, she would donate $220 of that. That is alot to me when you have to downsize and live barebones.

You seem to only see what they didn't have. They had everything they NEEDED. Why is it such a problem for you that Ducky would forgo extras for her family in order to help others have necessities?

To me, it sounds like she is/was living a Christ-like life.

I don't see why you would give money to others before yourself when you know you need it just as badly. Not sure if they were renting or owning but I would not agree if she owned the home and had to sell it to downsize BECAUSE she was giving the money away.

The church tells you that if you give "God" your money, blessings will come to you. I am sorry, but I do not agree with that whatsoever. There are so many people who are blessed who have never stepped into a church nor given them any of their money. I feel I am very blessed but would not give to my church or donate to a charity (money) if I knew I needed it more. Living barebones without children is fine but living without heat (I am 99% sure she said they did not live with heat) is not acceptable to me.
