I totally agree, and this is what I have said at least 7 times now. The former situation is not a gift, the latter is.

Please do expand. Maybe it's because I'm a glutton for punishment? Or maybe I just like to hear what you think you know about me for giggles.

No, because they didn't say "If you don't have gifts you don't have Christmas", and I am quite positive that most people don't believe that either. I don't see why the distinction is so hard for you to see.

Why is it shallow to think that? Like I have said over and over, many people feel that Christmas and gifts go together just like the people who coordinate the toys for the kids. If they all thought it was too shallow, many children would have nothing for Christmas, which I guess is fine with some people on this board but I don't think this is the majority of people as I have given for years and am not the only one.

I worked with a girl who was a Jehovah Witness. The celebrate once a year.

But you don't know that until Ducky tells us the entire story. Did you read the original thread?

No, but they also know that gifts are associated with Christmas and that children look forward to getting gifts then. They help out so these children can get gifts. This is done all over as my mom in another state has done it for years.

"Do YOU know many people that don't do gifts for Christmas?"

I do.
