Do you think your children would get like that if you got them lots of gifts? It sounds like they are on the right track and even if you did go overboard for a holiday, they would be still appreciative.

But wouldn't you think if you had to do things like selling your home you would stop the tithe for awhile? I guess I am not understanding that like how you don't understand why I have cable.

Nope.

If you don't understand the importance of the tithe, then you will never understand why it's not even comparable to cable.

Because her definition of "plenty" is not as materialistic as yours? I almost went with shallow, but I already know that you don't get why obsession with things is shallow.

I understand what tithe is as my parents gave for many many years. If they could not afford to do it, they would have stopped. God wants you to be able to take care of yourself. By giving money to the church when you really need clothes or heat, you are not taking care of yourself.

It is not hard for me to understand. What is hard for me to understand is why you think if you give your children alot of gifts, they will automatically be spoiled.

Well lets see in the realm of things, those few outfits per year REALLY makes or breaks the bank for us...

mortgage, taxes, homeowners, utilities, car loan and maintenance, food, kids school things, clothes (since we DO buy the majority of their clothes), life insurance, cellphones, savings for home, medical and medicines, 401K, IRA, savings, kids savings.

I guess
