We got money but there was a reason, for getting married. She was talking about her mother just handing her money.

Yes, for your birthday. Did she send you $200 at another time during that year, just because?

I totally trust in God too and have been trying not to worry as much about things (just finished reading Joel Osteen's new book!).

I am not going to go into the tithing thing though as with the idea especially when people are doing it when they truly can not afford to, to basically keep their church up and running.

You can disagree with tithe, you can disagree with my views on tithing.

Just because your mom gives you money with a specific reason as to how to spend it, doesn't mean everyone does.

My mom, on several occasions, has given me a check for $100-200 for NO reason.

>>She said she was continuing tithing even when they had to downsize their home. She couldn't afford things, that is the point<<

Hence my "big house" comment. She couldn't afford stuff that she ultimately DOES NOT NEED. She had food, heat, shelter, clothing, all the important stuff. Are you trying to say that her larger house and some of the other things she gave up are more important than tithing?

>>I hate to tell you but I live in a "starter" home as they call it and don't plan to move anytime soon. I do not have big expensive cars. I shop with coupons and sales all the time.<<

I know that. You still think that materialistic things are important. It is apparent in just about everything you post. Materialistic doesn't necessarily mean you have the BEST stuff, it just means that you think that stuff is excessively important.

Did you miss the part where I said the money was a Christmas gift?

My parents, as I have stated in a couple of threads, have given me money FOR NO REASON.

It wasn't for no reason, it was a Christmas gift.
