Perhaps the reference is to what is sometimes called "stealth evangelism" where adults gain access to young people for the purpose of eventually inviting them to join a religious organization. That has been going on for a long time. My kids once played baseball for the Knights of Columbus, and at the end of the season they all got invited to a celebration at a local Catholic church. At the church, the kids all filled out some kind of card in order to get a free pizza coupon, and then bingo, they were on the mailing list of the church and we even had some phone calls from members of the church inviting us to services. I didn't think it was that big a deal, we explained politely that we had our own church, thank you very much, and that was that.

That would be kinda hard, since you won't even say which states we are talking about. Why so secretive?

"Generally the gift tax rules allow you to make a gift of $11,000 per year to any individual without gift tax consequences. " -- http://www.eldercareadvocates.com/pages/art17.htm

Hi Talbotslover! {waving}

One needs an MBA or bookkeeping experience to wade through some of these rules.

So if you KNEW they were not taxable, why in heaven's name would you ask if they were?

That's what I was thinking....I would think that parent would have to be uninvolved to not know.
