I think that being positive is a good thing. But the problem I have with the "Thinking positive makes positive outcomes" theory is that there usually has to be action along with those positive thoughts. The positive thoughts are not what bring on the positive outcome. The actions are what bring on the positive outcome.
Someone who has lost their job can have all the positive thought they want but sitting home and having positive thoughts is not going find them a new job. The action they take in seeking them a new job is what will find them a job.
ITA. Instead of sitting there convincing themselves that they WILL win the lottery, they could be out doing something constructive to better their lives.
Oh no, I think that it's absolutely essential that anyone who claims to be a disciple of Christ judge the teachings of ANYONE for themselves. There are many who want to pervert the Gospel for their own gain:
Jesus told us to "Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves" (Matthew 7:15–20). He told us to "Take heed that no one deceives you. For many will come in My name… and will deceive many… For false christs and false prophets will arise and show great signs and wonders, to deceive, if possible, even the elect" (Matthew 24:4–5, 24).
"I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel, which is not another; but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ. But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed. As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed. For do I now persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? For if I still pleased men, I would not be a bondservant of Christ." Galatians 1:6-10
I do not see how anyone who teaches "the law of attraction" is in line with the teachings of Christ. All good things come from God, not from ourselves or our own thoughts.
Exactly, I know and you know and Patrick Swayze knows he is going to die from cancer. BUT....he has been positive and I truly think that has helped him. I wonder if the op has heard of people who have been sick and then they are not sick anymore. They didn't get that way by being negative but IMO it is because they were positive and prayed.
I would rather be positive in my last days, months, or years than to be negative and "acting" like I was dying.
I am not sure what your little emoticon is supposed to mean, but I am more willing to trust the words of a pastor who says, "Here is what I think, check it against the Word of God and your own common sense" than one who tries to tell me what to think based on his or her interpretation of Gospel.

but something counterproductive is the expectation of something without placing any active enthusiasm towards it.
