I never said it would "guarantee" you from dying. If you are dying, you are dying BUT I do think it helps you to keep positive. It helps the immune system which in turn could help you stay well.

Why do you assume that someone who believes in "The Secret" is not incorporating God with it?

Are you familiar with "The Secret" more than what you have googled?

Nothing. I got it from a friend BUT I KNEW these things but it just reinforced what I was feeling already and gave me more of a positive attitude that, yes, it is the right way to live.

I agree that there are churches that engage in unhealthy, unGospel-like behavior. Churches are only as Christ-centered as the people who make them up.

Believe it or not, as a professor of the history of Christianity, it is kind of my job to keep up with trends within the faith. If it has to do with popular culture and Christianity, I have heard about it and incorporated it into my lectures and writing. It's why I get paid the big bucks.

Oh, I am sure that there are a lot of people out there who confuse "the Secret" with the Gospel of Christ or think they are somehow intertwined. I just think they aren't thinking straight. Some of them aren't thinking at all.

Probably not. They were probably not as positive as I was. I feel I "attracted" it towards me.

Do you believe that contests are generally won by the person with the most positive belief that he or she won't win? That if a person loses it is his or her own fault because he or she didn't believe hard enough? Do you really think that is the way that God works? He's got some giant belief-o-meter in the sky that gauges the relative faith of every individual? That the way to prosperity is to to buy lottery tickets and work on your "faith"?
