We really have no kids in our neighborhood near Joel's age. That's the only thing I don't like about it. It's mostly younger folks...grad students and young married couples. The kids who are here are mostly infants & toddlers.

The neighbors' pets seem to like to hang out here, though. ;-)

YES!!!!

All the kids in the neighborhood love to hang out here, whether we are inside or outside. And none of their parents seem to mind (some of them barely notice) that their kids aren't there.

Personally, I would rather have my house the local hang out. That way, I know all my kids friends, and I know what they are doing and who they are with, and I can guide the type of things they are doing.

Edited to note that last week I had 16 kids here all week (including my own) so that they could all attend VBS. lol...my yard was like a kiddie zoo! lol

Yes, but for the "10 and under" set. I like that kids like hanging out at my house. At least I know where my kids are and who they're with.

So far, it's looking that way.

But, it has been more than tolerable to me, as my kids are still so young. (Will be 4 and 5 soon.)It happens this way because when we go outside, my kids have to stay in the yard - I don't let them wander. So, all the kids who are allowed to wander end up in our kiddie pool or running through our sprinkler.

The only mistake I've made so far, was defrosting my freezer and handing out a case of popscicles to anyone who would take one. I made all sorts of little friends that day, who show up now all the time wondering if I have more. Especially when that darn ice cream truck comes around and they aren't being treated. LOL

I love having our home as the hangout. We have three teens and we designed and built our home with specific features to attract kids. I want my kids and their friends under MY gaze and supervision. I know I am paying attention but I can't say the same about other kids folks. COME ON OVER!

Our house WAS the neighborhood hangout when my ds was in elementary school, and then we put up an 8 foot fence around our yard. Cut way down on that. LOL
