Completely fabricated sitch:

BD is CP and is married to SM, who's children are raised and gone now. Skids live 100% with BD and only visit BM sporadically. BM not interested in parenting, lives far away

I'm vocally anti-having more babies myself, not raising other people's kids on this board.

Discussions of what to do will center on SD and her Dad and I will support them no matter what. If they choose abortion, I'll support them. Adoption? Support them. Keep the baby? Support them. And then start getting the house ready for an infant.

Would I be happy? Not initially, although at some point, I'm going to be eager to meet the baby, if that's the way it works out. But if I loved this guy enough to marry him when he has a teenaged daughter and this girl lives in my home full time with virtually no contact with her Mom, I'm going to care if she lives or dies, even if she's not "my child".

Stuff happens. If I haven't left before this, I don't see this as making it happen.

And there's no freaking way the girl leaves the house because *I* say she has to.

I agree with all of this.

I would make the 15 raise her own baby. I would probably provide a room. I wouldnt be doing any of the raising. 15 year olds baby in my house....not my baby.

I was a teen mum, and I didnt have a mummy to run to and raise my baby for me. Intrestingly enough (and not scientifcally proven) those teen mums who had mums to help raise thier babies ended up leaving those babies with mum and they became mums baby. And thgen those teen mums got pregnant again and either 1. Got back thier older child or 2. Didnt get back thier older child or 3. older child lives with father.

My dad is an awesome grandfather, but he made no mistake telling me that baby was mine and he wasnt riasing it, or even babysitting. Which he did a handful of times, which was nice. But I paid him for it.

To me this sounds ideal in the ideal world. What if there WAS no other room? What if osd and ysd already share a room as it is? And even tho skid was told to raise the baby, you'd ultimately hear the late night cries waking you and the strain of the young mom and all that goes with it. I'm sure you'd have to jump in once in awhile to help the young mom.....sounds exhausting to me.

So is it a total coincidence that you would ask this question on the same night that USA televises the movie Juno?

Oh, lol, no. We saw that a few years ago already and we have no TV, we cut it off all summer until end of sept, so I wouldn't know what's out there.

It was the birthcontrol thread that got me thinkin'.
