If BM was laid off over a year ago due to not being able to pass a state certification and was unwilling to get a part-time job or a job in another field, would you still help her out financially for the sake of the child?

Would you pay for all the extras? When BM calls for Birthday/Christmas, Trips, etc, would you make her pony up half? If she didn't have it, would said child have to just do without?

Sure, I'd pay table CS...

Would you pay for all the extras?

What do you mean by this?

No, I would make her pay for all of her own trips/holidays/special events with the kids.

It depends on what you mean by 'help out financially'. If that is paying the CO'd amount of CS, then yes, of course. If that means basically supporting BM while she stays at home and refuses to work? Not on your life.

I wouldn't pay anything above and beyond half on extra currs, and no way would I finance her trips, Christmas, or any other 'extras' she may feel are needed. If the child was going without frivolous things like cable tv or video games, that's fine by me. If child was going without basic necessities like food, heat, or hot water, I'd be in court in a hot second.

My Ex still laid off. I get nadda in CS, in extras or anything. It sucks.

We do without. However the second time he was taking my kids to wonderland I reminded him that the $180 he spent in food at wonderland would have paid for food, a uni shirt for ODS and shoes for YDS.

He doesnt get it. HE thinks that I should just suck it up b/c he is laid off.

So, IMO If I was the one laid off I would do WHATEVER to make sure the kids had what they needed. But, thats niether here nor there.

I guess I would still ask the laid off perso to pony up the money. Would the rent or food not get paid? Of course it would. No shouldnty CS still get paid?

I would take even a token amount, or Ex could pay the dental bill....anything.

Your ex beyond sucks. I'm sorry.

DH couldn't find a job for 10 months. He still paid CS, kept insurance coverage on myself, himself, DS, and DSS. He still bought DSS clothes when he grew, etc.

It infuriates me when parents (male or female) don't take care of their responsibilities.
