I know that my neighbor who wound up in the hospital with a severe case of chickenpox while 8 mos. pregnant regretted not getting vaccinated.

I think that they have it right.

Other than my son, who was unfortunate enough to catch the chicken pox before he was old enough to get vaccinated, I don't know any kids under the age of about 15 or 16 that have had it.

I heard they just added a second round for this vaccine to the infant/toddler schedule.

Unfortunately, you cannot know whether the vaccine would have protected her. Clinical trials do not measure disease prevention, only seriopositivity. This tells us very little in the real world.

My experience is the polar opposite. Only vaccine derived viruses spreading at my day care and school. Host response is different from the never vaccinated versus the vaccinated... when patients don't present like they are supposed to, nothing gets an accurate dx.

I don't understand what you are saying (or referring to in my post.)

Vaccine derived chicken pox "spreading through kindergarten" is an anti-vaccine myth.

I have never heard of a case of chicken pox in a child who had the shot.
