that your children's immune systems will be lowered from eating Halloween candy? I have to admit, this year I am more concerned than I have been in previous years. Thoughts?

I went to the health food store today and bought acidophilis tablets, elderberry and echinacea.

No, but he is not going trick or treating, he is only 1. He doesn't eat candy.

No, my only concern is keeping choking hazards away from him (hard candies, etc).

Have you ever looked into the effect of refined sugar on the immune system?

I think you're seriously overestimating how much candy we're planning to let him eat. He'll probably get to eat about 4 pieces (smearing half of it on his clothes), and the rest we'll hand out to the later trick-or-treaters or eat ourselves. He doesn't even know what Halloween is or what candy is. So no, I am not concerned about its effect on his immune system. I'm more concerned about making sure he doesn't choke on anything.

Sorry I did not mean to come across that way, I was not making an assumption about the amount of candy you let your kids eat.

No offense taken! I didn't mean to sound dismissive. I was interpreting it kind of like a poll.

No, my kids are very healthy. I think there are much greater dangers than sugar...I'm living proof of that!

That's an interesting point I hadn't thought of.

I recently read about elderberry. Could you please explain the acidophilis and echinacea and what they would be helpful to treat?
