I spoke to my friend with the CDC
So there was no seasonal flu this year? Only H1N1? That is very interesting.
That makes sense. You have mentioned before that when you or your kids stray from your healthy diet that there are noticeable differences. And aside from the childhood emotions, we're also dealing with a lot of guilt during gift-giving season...or at least I do. I stress over buying the perfect gift, having the money to buy for everyone...it's so stressful! I tell my kids that its so wrong to commercialize Christmas but then they watch, first-hand, as I fall right into that commercialism. That, just knowing that, added guilt this year for me. People are always saying how they are exhausted during the holidays...and I don't think its from all that shopping and planning...
And I bet it wasn't an MD who told you the above --- was it?
(I'm sure there's a pill for that.)
We did something different this year for Christmas and not only did I love it, but, it will go on from here on out.
We tried that, but the discussions always turn political. My 10 yr old still believes in santa, or he pretends to. But he's very political, always joking about Obama. Some of what he says is so true although I know its completely innocent. I usually laugh but sometimes I feel guilty for letting him believe half-truths and such. They grow up so fast! Another stress I had this year was my cousin's kids. My mom has always bought them a lot for Christmas and this year she couldn't so I bought them a little something, and then I realized that the other cousins kids' would wonder why I didn't get them something...and then there's the usual friends - this one you can catch in time. My son (with my help of course) began creating some traditional giving that started a long time ago - back when he was a toddler. He has friends that we still buy for all these years later. And all these years later, they now have siblings and my next child has her gift-giving friends...and they all have siblings now. It's out of control!
We are going to break out of at least some of our TRADITIONS next year, it's getting too costly! But my point is, I didn't really see it coming - stop it while yours are still young!!!
