Man... I really wanted to read that, but stopped when I got here:
Their advice to doctors has served us well; during the past century, vaccines have helped to increase the lifespan of individuals in the United States by 30 years, with an excellent record of safety.
I suspect others will stop too.
Yep, started reading and then pretty much skidded to a stop! ;)
I'll admit that when I see Offit's name I get turned off though I know that most provaxers close their minds when Blaylock or Mercola are mentioned. I agree with your reasoning for posting and think that's why most of us are here! I'll be the first to admit that there have been times on boards where, even if my mind wasn't changed, it was opened to the other side. KWIM? Just because we disagree doesn't mean we can't have a civilized discussion on things and I think that you are one of the people that I disagree with but really don't mind the disagreement because things are pretty civil. So, kuddos!
It was interesting that a couple of doctors posted critiquing Pediatrics for publishing the attack by Offit without allowing Dr. Sears a forum to respond.
I don't even have to read the piece to know it is filled with go get yer shot propaganda, it's his livelihood.
Thanks for posting it Gina! I appreciate that you stick around and post the pro-vaccine side. This board still has a lot of on-the-fence lurkers and it's research everyone can factor into their own personal decisions.
Not an Offit fan but a fan of people having as much information as possible to make their decisions on ;)
Dr Sears has already responded through his own forum:
Edited to add his response is up on the actual article now also:
Also note the response from Dr John Poling further below.
In fairness, I haven't read this yet, but, I will, in its entirety....
But... when Offitt says things like "since the early 90's, multiple studies have proven there's no difference in autism in those vaccinated and those not" - I tend to well, question his motives, given that not only does multiple studies not exist, but, not a single one.....
