My niece is prego w/her first... she is termed as having an at risk pregnancy because of various medical concerns. but her doc is adamant about pushing the h1n1 on her...i told her to ask her doc for studies that say it is safe to inject that stuff into a pregnant woman with NO side effects on the baby...will be interesting to see what he says. I'm sure he'll parrot the CDC...even tho NO studies have been done.

If she is inclined, she could ask for an RX for Tamiflu and take it at the first sign of the flu in lieu of the vaccine.

Wouldn't be my personal choice but its an alternative to being vaccinated.

This info is from the FDA site. It's the package insert for the H1N1 vaccine.

8.1 Pregnancy
Pregnancy Category C: Animal reproduction studies have not been conducted with Influenza A
(H1N1) 2009 Monovalent Vaccine or AFLURIA. It is also not known whether these vaccines
can cause fetal harm when administered to a pregnant woman or can affect reproduction
capacity. Influenza A (H1N1) 2009 Monovalent Vaccine should be given to a pregnant woman only if clearly needed.

8.3 Nursing Mothers
Neither Influenza A (H1N1) 2009 Monovalent Vaccine nor AFLURIA has been evaluated in
nursing mothers. It is not known whether Influenza A (H1N1) 2009 Monovalent Vaccine or
AFLURIA is excreted in human milk. Because many drugs are excreted in human milk,
caution should be exercised when Influenza A (H1N1) 2009 Monovalent Vaccine is
administered to a nursing woman.

8.4 Pediatric Use
Neither Influenza A (H1N1) 2009 Monovalent Vaccine nor AFLURIA has been evaluated in
children. Safety and effectiveness in the pediatric population have not been established.
