If H1N1 is SOOOO Deadly...

If this flu is supposedly so deadly, why aren't we hearing about how its killing hundreds of thousands of people all over the world? one would think by now, this "epidemic" would have an should have been killing thousands and thousands by now with no stopping. And their "theory" of northern and southern hemisphere flu cases, its sounds like a bunch of bull to me. Illnesses are really only a plane ride away if they are THAT contagious. The entire world should have caught it by now, with the way the "experts" are talking. Talking thru the seat of their pants, maybe.
I think the "epidemic "is going to come when they start giving out the vaccine against it.
I have also noticed all the tv ads lately are purporting to stave off ALL flu virus if you use this antibacterial spray or that kind of wipes...what propaganda!

>>I just felt so sad after hearing that!<<

I'm very pro-life and that really makes me sad too. I didn't even know that.

>> I just wanted to point out that I have no clue where you got the idea that my skin is brown.<<

I don't feel it's a good idea to continue a thread that a mod closed but just so I can clarify what I mean and so we can hopefully move past...

We are ALL brown. We're just different shades of brown. No matter how light or fair skinned you are, you are still a lighter shade of brown. In other words, our color bears no importance in life. Or at least it shouldn't. Even though I'm Hispanic and dark skinned, I don't believe anyone should receive benefits from the color of their skin. Not even me. I wouldn't apply for the scholarships that were available only to Hispanics because I don't believe that's a good reason for one and I know that if there was one for white people, whoever sponsored that scholarship would be labeled a racist.

Anyway, lately I've been very sore when it comes to anything remotely regarding race because I was in a restaurant with my family and my mother, father and little sister are alld ark skinned. My father is actually white, but looks very VERY hispanic. A woman came up to me and my little sis while my sister was holding my daughter and asked if she was hers. She said "Oh no! She's my sister's. I'm just holding her while she washes her hands" (My sis is only 19 and it takes 2 to change my wiggly worm in a public restroom lol). The woman looks at me with total disbelief and said "Well if she's your kid, why is she white with blond hair and blue eyes and why do you have dark skin, black hair and brown eyes?". The nerve, huh? I don't mind being asked if she's mine because that is understandable due to the differences in look but to challenge when I say she is mine? I just told her "Her daddy's white" and left without saying another word. I'm just sore because of people like that and I shouldn't have brought that to the board. Hopefully you understand my reason for being overdefensive, not that it excuses my behavior, though.

I apologize for mixing you up. I still think you're a good parent. Maybe I should put a ban on my pc so I'm not using it at 3am lol. Thank you for clearing that up for me.

"I'm very pro-life and that really makes me sad too."

Well looka there...we actually agree on something! :)

"whoever sponsored that scholarship would be labeled a racist."

ITA, it's divisive!

"The woman looks at me with total disbelief and said "Well if she's your kid, why is she white with blond hair and blue eyes and why do you have dark skin, black hair and brown eyes?"."

I would probably have been too shocked to do what I would hope I woulda done, and that would be to slap her face. There are no words to describe people like that!

I got distracted and forgot to make my main point here. Do you realize that with the new health care bill, your tax dollars will fund abortions? I have a real problem with that!

How do you feel about cases where the mother's life is in jeopardy, or rape or incest? Are those acceptable terms or are you against it across the board? Personally I am fine with the way the amendment is written.

With most religious people, and I'm not Catholic, I'm Baptist, and not highly religious but getting there - they are against abortion all together. But me, I'm one of those who see it as a medical procedure when it is necessary. Because I lived with my mentally disabled brother for most of his 22+ years, I can't agree with abortion over knowing that the child will, or might be, disabled (mentally or physically). People who are either mentally or physically disabled (or both) can teach us a lot about life and love. So for that reason, I can't justify all abortions, nor can I condone people who feel they have to abort. Personally, if raped I would have the baby and give it up but that would be so hard to do, so I can certainly understand those who couldn't carry the baby to term. I can't say I would abort a baby if I knew it's birth would kill me either. I know it would be an awful place to be, I just don't know if I could do it.

And at the risk of sounding all noble and all...Most likely the reason I never got pregnant at a young age and had an abortion, like so many young ladies do, is likely because of the yuk factor. I didn't like sex when I was young - another person's body fluids being on me made me want to take a shower, lol! I got over it though!!!

Thanks for the link, that was an interesting read but I wonder if the new plan will include the amendment. It's interesting that they don't want to post it online for all of us to read. I hope that doesn't happen, but I'm guessing its stuff like this that makes them not want to.

Don't tell anybody! We have reps to protect =P

I assumed she was drunk so I just chalked up her response to alcohol. I guess I refuse to believe someone could be so ugly while sober lol. And, as you know, I can be veeery ugly and I didn't want to get into any argument or fight with my mom and dad there lol.

I once heard Chris Rock talk about people saying things that you are so shocked by what they say that you just dismiss it and are shocked later. This was definitely the case.

Yeah, I don't care for that part of the bill but in my eyes, it was better than the opposition's healthcare plan.

Ooh, I should put in my opinion here. I'm Catholic and in cases of rape, incest I take a give it up for adoption stance and when it risks the mom's life, I am not against it. I don't believe in abortion as a birth control, though. Even if the girl is very young, she chose to have sex and she should either keep the baby or give it up for adoption. I still consider that to be pro-life, though.

I'm not the standard Catholic, though.

Lol, I have a problem with spit so kissing was and still is a big problem with me.

I do understand! I had someone tell me that my kid won't ever learn how to stand in line or line-up and wait (because I homeschool). My mouth dropped and the shock didn't wear off - still hasn't, lol! My Aunt's friend told me that my kid would be a spoiled brat (her exact words) if I didn't give him a sibling. Oh well, now that he's got one she has little to say!
