Jenny McCarthy rips Amanda Peet over vaccinations

Former Playboy Playmate Jenny McCarthy and actress Amanda Peet are publicly feuding over the safety of childhood vaccines. Who says there's nothing sexy about inoculations?

Their dispute revolves around the belief among some parents of children with autism—including McCarthy —that certain vaccines may trigger the disorder, although scientific research has shown no evidence of any link.

Peet, a mother and advocate for childhood vaccinations, said in a recent magazine interview that parents who don't vaccinate their children because of autism fears are "parasites."

That made McCarthy very angry, almost as angry as the people who paid to see her recent movie "Witless Protection," in which she starred alongside Larry the Cable Guy.

In an article published Wednesday in Spectrum Magazine, McCarthy said Peet "has a lot of balls to come forward and be on that side, because there is an angry mob on my side. I like the fact that I can say she's completely wrong."

Peet apologized for her word choice but called it irresponsible to suggest that groups like the American Academy of Pediatrics are engaged in a massive coverup of harmful vaccines.

McCarthy said in the article released Wednesday that the American Academy of Pediatrics "sucks."

Too bad the Wall Street bailout debate is devoid of celebrity combatants. Just imagine how spicy it would be if Heidi Klum was ripping Kate Hudson for her stance on credit default swaps.

Me-OW!

>>The diet is not revolutionary, it's actually species appropriate - it should be no surprise that children (any human being for that matter) functions better when they eat appropriate food. -Jamie<<

I'm just a lurker. I stumbled upon this and thought this was a very BRILLIANT saying. It applies to EVERY aspect of our lives and people really don't understand how important it is to make sure our bodies get the proper nutrition.

You should come out of lurkdom more often. What she knows about food is not the typical "eat raw veggies and fruit only" kind of stuff. It is amazing how few of us really know what's in our food, or what's bad/good for us. I'm trying, slowly but surely, but there is so much to learn. I have begun to cut out a lot of sugar and processed crap. My kids are getting into it and we all feel good about the changes. I think it's because I didn't take the drastic approach and make too much change too soon. It will take a while but I want to cut out all white processed flour and sugars from our family's diet. But that is just a start, we'll have a long way to go after that.

The more I learn about cows getting shots and seeds being forever altered makes me want to move to a new country!

O yeah the more I learn the scarier it is. I started drinking organic milk, and eating organic eggs a while ago. Because of all Ive read Ive actually really lowered my milk consumtion to mostly using it while cooking. I now also by organic ketchup and potatoes...and several other things I can find organic. I cut out "snacks" and HFCS too. Of course all my friends think im crazy and whats the point... most of this started b/c of having my baby. Of course they say I can't protect her from "every chemical on earth" (so they think I shouldnt do anything at all) I figure the smartest thing I can do is limit as many as possible. If I can cut out 90% of them then I am doing the best I can.

* As far as vax's go...I think we as parents owe our kids the best start... Most parents don't just "not vax" they take TONS of other steps in preventing illness as well. As far as vax and autism, to be honest I decided not to vax b4 I even heard much about this. I think there are MANY reason for the rise in autism... I think some of it is misdiagnosis as well... I think some is environment, chemicals, and I think genetics plays a big role...I think MOST parents know that vax's dont CAUSE autism, but that vaxes may trigger it in some kids. I think those words are CONSTANTLY distorted. I havent really looked much into the whole autism vax thing since its not a big factor in my decision. However I will say that I think vax's play a bigger role in all kinds of things... asthma, allergies, cancer, even adult problems. I also think not breastfeeding plays a big role too...I wonder how many kids are affect by autism based on not breastfeeding? I'd be interested to see that kind of information...

Anways thats my 2cents for now lol.

Yea, most of my friends think I'm crazy too. What is HFCS? I'm sure it's simple but my brain is on overload at the moment.

My brother had Autism but he was never diagnosed with it. This was back in the 1970's. He was normal, had one shot, came home, ran a high fever, started having seizures, was never the same since. Back then they didn't deny the vaccine caused the "mental retardation". I had the same shot, would probably be diagnosed with ADD and OCD both. But I know many adults who can say the same.

ITA with you about Asthma, Allergies and Cancer. I began to have hives suddenly in my 20's. I didn't realize it until later but I had a lot of dental work done back then. I bet a lot of those shots in my gums included all sorts of ingredients that were never meant for the human body. A decade later, after having fillings removed and replaced - I suddenly don't have hives like I used to. I still have one filling that needs to come out, and I wonder if when it's gone the hives will stop all together. I got the idea from my Dad's doctor at Emory University. He said his wife was diagnosed with "false-food allergies" too. Like mine, her allergy tests would be different every single time. One day I was allergic to soy, the next 6-week test and suddenly I wasn't...but the peanut test would still show a positive every time yet I love peanuts and ate them constantly, still do. Next I tried eating nothing but turkey and drinking water for six weeks - test still came out different than previous tests. What a waste of money all that testing was!

Wow that is alot of testing, pointless testing. Didn't it ever dawn on the doctors that it was something else??

HFCS = High fructose corn syrup... contrary to the new commericals its not good for you...and well we jsut wont even go there, Im sure crack isnt bad for you in moderation either...

Yeah, lately ive been having severe headaches I can't seem to shake. Well migraines run in my family and a cup of caffine a day treats them...well it was working and now its not. Ive had sinus surgeries before and my nose is far from needing another, so tomorrow Im heading to the eye doc to see if thats the cause...if not im on the search to figure it out b/c its becoming very dibilitating. I have changed things in my diet to help as well... I started a new vitimin with slightly more iron so hopefully it will show some imporvment too.*im not big on vitamins but i have cystic fibrosis and have to take one*

I am proud to say that my daughter is breastfeed, eats only organic, and unvaxed and is by far healthier than her baby friends. She has only been sick majorly once - She has a lung infection -mrsa, from me being in teh hospital so i had to give her antibiotics (of course i let her body fight it as long as possible and only let them give her the lowest dose of antibiotics) and she has had only one tiny 1/2 ear infection, in one ear that wasnt there one day, and then took care of itself 3 days later (yes she ran a high fever, and no she did not have but ONE dose of tylenol when her fever got to 104...her body did the rest...)

Did we get off topic or what lol

I really smart lady just told me to try a banana and water for a headache. Could you be dehydrated, (she mentioned that could be a cause too)?

Your baby had MRSA??? Oh my gosh, I can't even imagine what that was like for you!

Yea, we're off topic, but it's a topic, like vaccines, that people don't know the truth about until someone goes off topic and mentions it on a different board and creates interest. Anything to plant a seed!!!

Ill def try that before bed, I am really bad about drinking water and tend to drink more teas and juice (i know im bad).

Yeah. Having CF I've cultured MRSA a few times, once being when she was 6 months, well between breastfeeding, the 2 weeks hospital stay, and her being preemie she just got it. It wasn't to bad but the coughing and runny nose made her miserable - and lemme just say she was at the boob NON STOP!.
