I've been reading some rather disturbing comments on a listserv lately, and I am curious... How many of you in favor of cumpulsory vaccination feel that if your child was exposed to a vaccine available disease, and contracted it, and it was determined that your child was in contact with an unvaccinated person (adult or child), you would assume it was their fault (due to vax status) and sue them?

Frequently it seems that the pro-vax response to this is - I want to prevent my child from getting sick ever if it's at all in my power.

Not saying I agree. I too think it's better to get a typically harmless childhood disease when you're a child, rather than having to worry about contracting it as an adult. Not to mention that I don't prefer to worry about AE's that dr's would dismiss - It's absolutely not possible that the vaccine did that.

Uh huh.

All that did was keep her from getting a childhood disease while she was still a child. Now, as she ages, and the disease becomes more dangerous to her...her vaccine could wane.

You don't realize that the anti-vax group never say that vaccines never work in some children. They do, in *some* children. They also wane...in SOME children quicker than others.

Wouldn't it just be easier to get the chicken pox, be done with it, not worry for the rest of your adult life? It's a mild disease that usually only lasts for a few weeks. When a person gets the disease, they get life-long immunity. When a person gets the vaccine, they get boosters, and more boosters, and more...

I had someone tell me that one day...he would sue me if my child made his child get the measles. Laughable!

"I just don't understand how I'm wrong to listen to my pediatrican's advice (well, former, they dropped our insurance so we had to find a non-vax friendly ped outside of that practice) when he says, there's no need for it? How is that any different from someone else taking their pediatrician's advice to vaccinate on schedule, or a delayed schedule? "

ITA Tracy. It was our family Doctor saying she wanted to stop because of the Hep B reactions... (which caused us to research) and I posted on this board at that DD's most recent appointment she still does not recommend vaccinating her.

"In my experience, the majority of parents who are now opposed to vaccinating used to be strongly pro-vaccination, or at least passively pro-vaccination.

They changed their position because they have a child with vaccine damage."

ITA. That sums me up to a tee.

"What I'd like to see? The delayed, selective vaxers making common cause with the vaccine critics to fight for philosophical exemptions."

Amen :)

I wish you'd stay Gina! I know you and I have had our disagreements but I really enjoy you on this board. I completely understand what you're saying but I wish you'd think about hanging around.
