the virus has managed to mutate... nice, huh?
If my mom gave me what I was hungry for I'd be a two ton tessie. (LOL, dad didn't have a problem with that one, though. ;-)) Fortunately (and least in hindsight), mom had the major control.
But I do agree - it is a growing (literally) problem and I contribute a lot to laxizacial parenting, not to be outdone with little self control and little accountability. I do however agree that some is due to medical condition - and ironically, some of the same medications for medical condition causes weight gain. (go figure).
I have to laugh sometimes at people that look at my son (though I do think he's slightly under weight for his height) and ask me "if he's okay", as they're comparing him to their kid who's 3 times his weight and a few inches shorter. I just think, he's fine - and yours?
It is a completely vicious circle.
Don't even get me started on obesity and all of the issues that accompany that. It's one of my pet peeves -- unfortunately .. the majority of our patient population is obese with all of the comorbidities that accompany all that adipose tissue.
I used to love to eat peanut butter by the spoonful .. my mom would always say "Melissa! If you keep eating peanut butter like that you're going to weigh 900 lbs!!" At the time I thought she was being really mean ... now I see that she was probably right .. (and I don't eat peanut butter by the spoonful ;)
"It's high time we start testing infants immune systems before insulting them with the onslaught of vaccines. Some of these kids cannot handle them!"
For what? I'm gonna have to be blunt because my PC or IV one is wigging out.
If the myelin sheath is being damaged, then there is nothing to test for. All babies have forming myelin sheath and it's immature in all babies (under two years of age).
