"It's high time we start testing infants immune systems before insulting them with the onslaught of vaccines. Some of these kids cannot handle them!"

For what? I'm gonna have to be blunt because my PC or IV one is wigging out.

If the myelin sheath is being damaged, then there is nothing to test for. All babies have forming myelin sheath and it's immature in all babies (under two years of age).

Don't even get me started on obesity and all of the issues that accompany that. It's one of my pet peeves -- unfortunately .. the majority of our patient population is obese with all of the comorbidities that accompany all that adipose tissue.

I used to love to eat peanut butter by the spoonful .. my mom would always say "Melissa! If you keep eating peanut butter like that you're going to weigh 900 lbs!!" At the time I thought she was being really mean ... now I see that she was probably right .. (and I don't eat peanut butter by the spoonful ;)

I probably should have clarified. I meant given what we wanted regardless of what the fruit was. Strawberries, for example, are a high allergen to a lot of children, but when we were kids, we'd give it a shot and if we like it, then it became part of our diet. McDonald's wasn't exactly a must have when I was a child and I'm more referring to older generations and not so much the generation of kids that are just now teens.

If my mom gave me what I was hungry for I'd be a two ton tessie. (LOL, dad didn't have a problem with that one, though. ;-)) Fortunately (and least in hindsight), mom had the major control.

But I do agree - it is a growing (literally) problem and I contribute a lot to laxizacial parenting, not to be outdone with little self control and little accountability. I do however agree that some is due to medical condition - and ironically, some of the same medications for medical condition causes weight gain. (go figure).

I have to laugh sometimes at people that look at my son (though I do think he's slightly under weight for his height) and ask me "if he's okay", as they're comparing him to their kid who's 3 times his weight and a few inches shorter. I just think, he's fine - and yours?

It is a completely vicious circle.

I mean geez, when we were kids, Mom gave us what we were hungry for and we turned out pretty darn well.

I beg to differ, the health issues in this country (that are almost always in some what attributable to diet) are insane.

Omg lol I know. I mean geez, when we were kids, Mom gave us what we were hungry for and we turned out pretty darn well. Then again we weren't given cocktails during immunizations. I wonder what my doc's views are on delayed vax.
