What is everyone's thoughts on this? I realize that polio is still an infectious disease in other countries, and technically our children could contract it if they came in contact with someone who was unknowingly carrying it from travels. The last case i could find that popped up in the U.S. was 1999.

Weren't the last cases in the US caused by the OPV?

I'm not sure how I feel about this vaccination.

This is one we did get. Since my husband is in the Air Force, we travel a lot (our kids at 5, 2, and 9 months had lived on two continents and by 6, 3, and 1 had lived on three continents!) so we weren't confident that we would avoid the disease "abroad". I also was not sure that an infection would be able to be treated well enough that my children wouldn't suffer long-term issues from having contracted Polio. So we did get that vaccine.

Interesting you bring this up now. I was just researching about it yesterday as my soon to be 2 year old may get it this December. Nothing else though. I know wild polio hasn't had an outbreak in over 20 years but like pp stated I have friends who are still disabled from that particular disease. Not to mention the fact that we do travel out of the country, usually just Europe but migration from Africa into Europe is faster than ever.

I still need to research ingredients though,
