I tried to listen to this YouTube video before I posted it, but the list of ingredients turned my stomach and I couldn't continue.

Vaccines & Overdosed Babies

Is the current immunization schedule safe? Vaccines are drugs. They contain antigens, preservatives, adjuvants, stabilizers, antibiotics, buffers, diluents, emulsifiers, excipients, residuals, solvents, and inactivating chemicals. They also contain residue from animal and human growth mediums. Why are these substances put into vaccines? Why do vaccines contain mercury and aluminum? Why are so many vaccines given at the same time? What effect do they have on the developing child? How common are adverse reactions to vaccines? What is VAERS? Are vaccinations legally required?

Is the current immunization schedule safe? Yes

Vaccines are drugs. And?

They contain antigens, preservatives, adjuvants, stabilizers, antibiotics, buffers, diluents, emulsifiers, excipients, residuals, solvents, and inactivating chemicals. Google these terms - there is nothing wrong with that.

They also contain residue from animal and human growth mediums. Human growth medium?

Why are these substances put into vaccines? Antigens cause the immune response, preservatives prevent contamination (VERY few vaccines have preservatives at all, the Infanrix brand vaccines do), stabilisers do what the name says, antibiotics are tiny amounts left over from the production process, where they prevent bacterial contamination, diluents are things that dilute, nothing evil about that, emulsifiers make sure all particles in a vaccine stay in solution (few vaccines have them), excipients is the term for anything in a vaccine that is not antigen, residuals is the term for anything left over in the vaccine solution from the production process (I have a feeling someone added those terms just to increase the number of "evil latin terms" in the list), solvents do what the name says, inactivating chemicals (not sure what that anti-vaccine site meant by those).

Why do vaccines contain mercury and aluminum? They don't contain mercury and aluminum salts prompt the immune system to make antibodies against the tiny amount of antigens.

Why are so many vaccines given at the same time? To get the children protected as early as possible.

What effect do they have on the developing child? They make the child immune against potentially very dangerous diseases and train her immune system.

How common are adverse reactions to vaccines? If you count fever and irratibility as well as local reactions, very common. Serious adverse reactions are rare.

What is VAERS? The Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System to which physicians and parents can report adverse events, so that rare events can be associated with the vaccine.

Since I know the parents of several children who are dying because of somebody else's decision not to vaccinate their own child, the "but what if it is *your* child" does not cut it with me really. Apart from the fact that vaccination first and foremost protects MY child, we do not live in a bubble. We live in a community and that requires a certain amount of responsibility. Parents who advocate not vaccinating to others with notions like "measles are usually a mild disease" while conveniently riding out herd immunity are a threat to public health (all respectfully my own humble opinion, of course). My children will neither contract VPDs themselves (within the efficacy of their vaccines, which is generally very high), nor will they infect another person with said VPD. Vaccinating your child works brilliantly as a Golden Rule (in the sense of Kant's Categorical Imperative "Act only according to that maxim whereby you can, at the same time, will that it should become a universal law."). Not vaccinating your child is not suitable as a general rule for everyone. We would see thousands of dead children, many more disabled.

I see mums who are plainly too scared to vaccinate. I cannot and do not blame them. The media manufacturversies (of MMR/DTP/autism) and exploitation of the unease by society doctors like Bob Sears fuel these fears ruthlessly. Anyone who goes out to actively advocate not vaccinating is anti-social (again, IMO), endagering their own children's lives, but also their neighbors'.

I used to hang out here a lot (many, many board overhauls ago), so long that I saw mums convert both ways. Not sure I have the stomach for regular contributions, but I will surely check in again :)

Nice to meet you and happy new year

This is an appropriate response to the video above:
