Vitamin K Injection?
66
Mon, 11-09-2009 - 6:57pm

Please help by sharing with me your knowledge, experience, & opinions. My baby is due in 3 weeks. I'm 42. I've decided, with no doubts, against the Hep B shot. However my Midwife & doula have told me to accept the Vitamin K shot because it's not worth the fight. I'm currently working on my Birth Plan & Vaccine Exemption Statement which needs to be notarized & submitted. I'm feeling overwhelmed by everything at this point. What should I do?

Thank you

This conveys sarcasm. If it was not meant to be sarcastic, the extra "a"s don't make sense. I'm not going to enter into a debate about whether or not you were being disrespectful or what you did or did not mean to convey, but I'm just putting in my two cents about what seemed disrespectful about it to me.

Lol couldn't you imagine "Well honey, I think we should circumcise our child because SuzieQ3000 on Yahoo did and she thought it was a good decision".

No but I can imagine the opposite.

So, in other words, there is no proof. That's fine.

They were talking about my initial post. I'm not going to sugar coat anything when someone accuses me of something without explaining why.

Yeah but in the case of circumcision, there aren't real risks of not doing it like there are for doing it.

There are real risks associated with not circumsizing, I just did not feel they came anywhere

Would you PUULEEEZZ stop playing the minority card. No one is "discriminating" against you b/c you vaccinate; no one here honestly cares if you do or you don't. Please make intelligent conversation with meaningful debate and exchange of information.

You aren't engaging in debate .. you are making statements that you know will be inflammatory in order to stir things up and distract everyone from the real issues. I hardly think the OP was looking for petty arguments over sources of information or personal conflict -- but was instead looking for intelligent discussion and credible resources to help her make her decision. You provided neither.

False.

Research has indicated that there is decreased transmission of HIV in circumscisized vs. uncircumsized males. This may also be true of other STD/STIs.

Increased risk of UTI.

Many men experience tearing of the foreskin during intercourse -- not just during anal penetration, but often during vaginal penetration.

Some men have problems with the foreskin and are unable to retract it -- leading to circumcision later in life (much more painful and certainly more memorable than when done in infancy)

(If I honestly cared more, I'd look for peer reviewed articles, I know they exist .. but no matter what I come up with you'd punch a hole in it .. my point is that neither option is without risk).
