What are the laws for Texas

Last month I took my son for a check up. They said he was behind on shots. I thought okay I missed a shot or two. They came in to vax him and ended up giving him six shots. He was screaming and it took four adults to hold down my four yr old. It was bad. Then his arm's and legs were bruised and swollen for weeks. One arm still is a bit swollen. I started thinking about why I vax my kids. I have four and have always vaxed. I decided I never want to give them any new vaccines that are coming out until I know more about them. The school still says my four yr old needs two more shots. I don't think I want him to have them. It's funny because when my second child was born early I was convinced he needed all these extra shots. We went for RSV twice a month, he got extra pneumonia shots that were not recommended

Wow... I am so sorry to hear about your poor 4 year old!! :( Ugh ..I cannot even imagine 6 shots at one time in an adult. NO adult would agree to that for themself .. so why do they do it to kids!? I think it's irresponsible for the provider to authorize so many injections at one time.

I don't know the laws .. but I just wanted to say that I really feel for you and your poor son!

Thanks everyone. I ordered my exemption forms a couple of days ago. I hope it comes tomorrow but that is wishful thinking. I went to register my son for school today and they told me he needed one more shot before he could start. He was standing there and started crying and saying no more shots mommy I am not sick. I feel so bad for him. After what we put him through a few weeks ago.

My kids are still in daycare, so we haven't dealt with the school system yet, but today was their first day for the year since the summer break, and I wrote my vaccination preference for the center and included citations of the state law and no problems. I also made sure to add in a special paragraph regarding the H1N1 vaccine, given that schools (and daycares) are going to probably be the cornerstone of immunization clinics that my children were not to receive this vaccine either under anyone's authority (given that I'm sure there's going to be mass chaos). Then made sure to sign the letter and put "All Rights Reserved Without Prejudice" above my signature, meaning I wasn't relinquishing my parental rights to anyone acting in loco parentis.
