I get this sick feeling in the pit of my stomach when I think of how massive this vaccine campaign will be. But you know, if there is no obvious side-effect happening within the hour of the flu shot, it will be deemed "safe". All the side-effects will be said to have nothing to do with the shot and all the deaths will be considered coincidence. Nothing good will come of this, nothing. The nursing homes will have new vacancies after a few weeks but I don't consider that a good thing.

Let's all remember how much swine flu we saw in this country this first year. As the numbers grow because of the shot, they'll simply say the shot kept the numbers from being higher - and round and round we go...

I realize that there was no time for clinical trials or studies before releasing this vaccine in the fall - but does anyone know how long the longest trials for any flu shot have ever lasted?. Only hours, I suppose. I guess it's too much money to follow patients for any longer than that.

Oh but don't worry folks, the worse thing that happens to healthy people when they experience side-effects from a shot won't be death, just *symptoms* of the flu...not the flu, mind you, only symptoms of it.

Do they have the package insert ready yet? I can't wait to read it!

I am so scared about all this. I live in Spain and it looks like they are going to make it mandatory on kids. I have an 11 year old and a 9 year old and an 8 month old baby. Are there any guarantees that it is a safe vaccine?? I am so freaked out.

No guarantees. And in the US they are saying that the safety data won't even be available until at least April. If that is the case .. WHY would we use the vaccine before that!? Especially in children and pregnant mothers?!

I wonder if anyone in the government has pondered that question.. I also wonder if they are giving it to their kids and pregnant wives.

Sad to say, I bet they are giving it to their kids and PG wives. I wouldn't be surprised at all!

They probably haven't allowed the possibility that the vaccine might not be safe / effective to enter their thinking.
