Bragging on DH <3

So DH had told me that he got ME something for LO's birthday but it hadn't come in time for his birthday. So last night he came home and gave me a watch engraved with his birth date & time and "we love you." It was by far one of the most thoughtful gifts he's ever given me. It just reminded me that that moment in time may have been the hardest moment in my life, but it was the start of something amazing. I love that man!

For my birthday he is having my rocking chair repaired. It was actually my great-grandmother's on my dad's side. She gave the chair to my mom when my sister was born (why she didn't give it to one of her own granddaughers, I don't know). My great-grandfather had worked it over, added some screws and re-glued some lose parts at that time to make it safe for the new great grandbaby. When I got pregnant, it was one of the first things that we put in the nursery. Everyone told me I'd hate it and that I really needed a glider, but I love my antique rocker. It is so reassuring to sit in a chair with my baby that my mom, my grandma and my great-grandma also rocked their babies in. Several months ago the seat cracked so I haven't used it since (don't wanna pinch my butt!) and DH found a guy in town that repairs antique furniture. Hopefully we'll have it back by the end of the month.

Oh and here's a pic of LO refusing his super awesome cake that I slaved over! ;) In the background you can see the super awesome sandbox that DH slaved over and of course, Taylor LOVES it. Guess he's a dirt boy, not a cake boy!

Yes, that hair is the topic of much debate. Most of the men (non-related ones) we know are trying to convince DH to cut it. ALL the women and most of the male relatives are cheering for us not to. We won't cut it for a while. He's already had one haircut at 5 months. We had to even it out since he'd rubbed/pulled all the hair from one side of his head. I think it was sort of a self-soothing thing. He'd always rub his head with his left hand when he was sleepy. When he finally quit and it started to grow back, we cut it all to make it even again. I love the curls though! We won't be cutting them off for a while!

Oh that's an awesome gift! It really is so great when they do something sweet & thoughtful like that! My dh gave me a pandora bracelet with a two charms on it for when I had Addison. Then he added one to represent Matt. It was nice to get something that I didn't ask for. :)

The rocker sounds wonderful! My mom had a rocking chair but I have bad memories of it. I remember my grandmother rocking on my fingers when I was little (not a baby, lol, but small enough that I was on the floor and she caught my fingers while she was rocking one of my sisters). I didn't have a glider with Matt and I don't have one with Addison. We have a rocker recliner and that works well. :)

LOL on the cake. Awesome job! And the sand box looks great too!!
