C-Section/Tubal Ligation Question
Wed, 05-07-2003 - 3:13am
Hello Ladies,

My daughter was born on April 9 via c-section. I also had a tubal ligation. The baby will be 4 weeks tomorrow. I have had 2 c-sections before. I usually use 2 weeks post partum as a marker to note my progress in terms of healing. I usually feel pretty good around that time. I know every delivery is different but I want to be sure I don't need to be concerned.

Like I said I had my tubes tied. I still feel sore and even a dull ache on the side, where I guess my tubes are. Sometimes it is all over the womb area. However, the incision has pretty much healed and only itches sometimes. The soreness and ache come about after walking for a while or increased physical activity (nothing too inappropriate for this post-partum stage). My question is: does it seem to take longer to heal after a c-section w/ tubal vs. after only a c-section? Logically, I would think so but I truly didn't know what to expect with the tubal and cs.

I'll add that I have not rested as much as I need to (keeping track of my two toddlers combined with sleepless nights with baby), and figured perhaps my healing was compromised a bit. TIA for any input you can give.

Congratulations on your new little one!!!! I have had 2 c/s & had a tubal with the last one in July 2002. I also had a 4 year old when I had my baby in July 2002, so I know what you are talking about running after the little ones. I seriously thnk it DOES affect the recovery some. My 2nd c/s was no different than my first and I had a tubal with the second one. I'm not completely sure, but I think your tubes are on both sides, so if just one side is hurting, I don't know what that would be. I didn't have any "longer" pain during recovery with the 2nd c/s than with the 1st. I feel pretty sure it is because you are doing more even though you may not realize it (that's just MY opinion though). With only 1 child, it seems alot easier but with a newborn & a toddler, you do more than you realize.

Anyway, hope this helps you some. If you are in doubt just call your OB & ask her/him. I'm sure ladies call them every day/week about the same thing!!
