hi there! popping in from my usual board.

i had a planned C/S last tues and i have been so glad i opted for the c/s. My first left me with a TERRIBLE recovery period after tearing really bad as well as the episiotomy. This as well as the fact that she had a slight shoulder distosia and this baby was measuring big as well are what led us to this decision.

I've been up and about the house doing well all week..except i have a wonderful one year old who isnt getting her mommy time. she's walking and climbing but has no idea why mommy cant pick her up or let her crawl on me. tomorrow my constant help will be gone and i'll have about 2 hours in the afternoon where its just me. i know i cant lift her yet but i was wondering if anyone else had a similar experience and how you handled having such a young one while recovering from your surgery

Hi Amanda!

Welcome and congratulations on your new baby! With the two of them being so close in age they are going to be the BEST of friends! :)

My last 2 were 19 months apart - and my son is super active. I had about a week of help before being thrown into in on my own. Honestly, the best thing I did for myself was give myself permission to let my son cry. Of course I did all the other things like making a "safe room" with lots of toys, use TV (Elmo!) as a distraction, try snacks to prevent him from crawling on me, etc. But basically I told him that he couldn't jump on me and I let him cry for awhile when he threw a tantrum.

I don't know if that's helpful or not... might not be!

Please jump in and post any other questions that you might have... and we'd love to hear about your C section if you have a chance! Congrats agagin!!
